Updates for travelling to Thailand: the TDAC replaces the TM6 form
From 1 May 2025, Thailand will implement the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC), a digital system that will replace the old paper arrival form TM6. Like the previous document, this card will be mandatory for both entering and leaving the country by air, land, or sea.
For years, travellers arriving in Thailand had to complete the TM6 form with passport information, travel details, and accommodation address. This document was usually provided on the plane or at immigration controls. However, in July 2022, Thai authorities temporarily suspended its use for passengers arriving by air to streamline airport processes. Later, this measure was also applied to land and sea entries and will remain in effect until 30 April 2025.
With the introduction of the TDAC, Thailand is moving towards a fully online system that must be completed before travel. This requirement will apply to all foreign travellers, even those exempt from a visa, as is the case with some Southeast Asian nationalities. Thai citizens will be the only exception.
This new system aims not only to speed up immigration control but also to improve visitor tracking during their stay, enhance border security, and optimise the country’s tourism management. With this digital transformation, Thailand modernises its traveller entry and exit system.
